Gerry Anderson auction scam

Hi all,

For years, I've been annoyed that people on eBay auction off printouts
made from my "UFO Series Home Page" (scripts, mostly). But now, I've just
noticed that the same thing is happening at next week's Gerry Anderson
auction! Take a look at Lot 89:

http://ufoseries.com/temp/auction.jpg

Now, when viewed in the catalog, that is a very small photo, and it
appeared to me to be some rare newspaper clippings from the 1970s.
However, when enlarged via a scanner, you can see that something
is not right -- there are computer file names under the images --
"tvGuideDuck.jpg", "tvGuideFollow.jpg", etc. Well, I recognize
these names as something I uploaded to my website years and years
ago:

http://ufoseries.com/magazines/tvGuideDuck.jpg
http://ufoseries.com/magazines/tvGuideFollow.jpg

The amusing thing about this is that I was actually thinking
about bidding on this item... imagine my disappointment if
I had "won" a printout of JPEGs from my own website... :-(

And those JPEGs were scans that I had made from 1972 - 1973
USA TV guides. You can see them all on my "magazines and
newspapers" page at:

LOL!

The <censored>, low-life, morally-challenged opportunist trying to sell
your stuff might remotely have been able to make a point if you yourself
had been trying to make a buck from your site.

That's not what you do, though.

Don't let the bastards grind you down.

Sorry to hear that some ratbag is ripping you off. Is it too late
to alert the auction as to what's happening? I'd guess that apart
from sending Straker and Freeman in to persuade the seller to
withdraw - with the same diplomacy and tact that they used in "Court-
Martial", and I'm thinking especially of the novelisation, which
went a bit further than could be shown on ITV - that'd be the best
option available to you.

Well, Marc's not being ripped off fortunately, but I do
hope no-one ends up paying good ££ for hard copy of
JPEG downloads. On balance it's unlikely, but I suppose
it could be an honest mistake somehow - it does seem odd
that the filenames are printed.

Yes, I'm not being ripped off, but anyone who wins that
auction (thinking that these are original materials)
will be! I have now have notified Comet Miniatures
with my concerns, so we'll see what happens...

It's sad that you have to put water marks on your pic's to stop them
