Gerry Anderson on BBC (radio) 5Live a few minutes ago

Slightly uncomfortable listening, frankly - they started off the feature
by playing an audio trailer for the new Thunderbirds movie, then the
interviewer started off by asking, in a roundabout way, what he thought of it.

Gerry became rather emotional and confrontational, and replied that he had
nothing to do with it, he had no interest whatever in it, that he had
made clear to the programme's producer that he wasn't going to talk about it,
and if the interviewer thought he was going to get him to talk about it
he was very much mistaken!

Happily, the interviewer changed tack and asked him about the CGI Captain
Scarlet remake. Gerry answered that it was the best thing he'd ever done,
and that he was very pleased with it.

He sounds a little frail, actually.

Sorry for the lack of UFO content :D

I do think the films places Mr Anderson in a very precarious
situation. I think he said himself if the film bombs then people will
blame him, even though he had nothing to do with the film.

I think that this was probably in his mind when he was interviewed.
How can he answer any questions about the film when he had nothing to
do with it?

I do hope the film does well personally and enhances Gerry Anderson's
reputation(can it be enhanced anymore?). His original is and always
will be an icon in the UK but if the film does well, hopefully the
USA will revisit his series.

I know he gets no royalties from the repeats but can only help along
the new Captain Scarlet IMO
