HELLO / MAN THAT CAME BACK

carly.ward
Hi -
I'm new to this. And extremely wary about joining such an established group!
Who mostly seem to be experienced and entertaining authors too, judging by
the author list in the SHADO library. Scary.

Anyway, I'll risk participating!
I'm Carly Ward, first saw UFO when I was very young during it's first
airing. Was totally mesmerised the first time I saw Ed Straker. Which caused
my mother to imagine I was going to have father figure fixations for the
rest of my life (I was 8 or 9 I think). But as I'd previously been entranced
by a piece of beautifully carved wood (Thunderbird's Scott Tracy) she
reckoned my new fascination wasn't all bad. And the show did keep me quiet
for nearly an hour each Saturday evening.

I personally blame the series for my fixation on polo neck sweaters which I
still keep buying (and, more worryingly, wearing - Lands End has a lot to
answer for).

So that's me. Rivetting. (Yeah, right :D)

And a question about The Man that Came Back. I don't have it on video so
can't check but when I saw it on BBC2 last summer, there was a scene,
shortly after Collins had beaten Grey to a pulp, where Collins appeared
menacingly behind dear Dr Jackson. What happened next? I don't recollect
that scene ever being resolved. But maybe I just lost concentration and
missed it. If anyone can be bothered to let me know, that'd be great. And
didn't much like the ep, didn't like Collins, couldn't connect him with
Straker at all. But hey, what would I know?!

Thanks for reading (assuming anyone did!) Byeeeeeee.
Carly

Hello, welcome & enjoy!!

I'm still quite new but I've been made to feel very welcome here - you will
too.

Glad to have you aboard :)

Lesleyxx

PS - I think Doug Jackson is very dear - a real smoochie!!

Hello Carly,

Wellcome to the list!

I don't think there's anything to be afraid of on this list, even for the
people who don't speak English so good, like myself. It's friendlyest bunch
of beople I ever met.

As for Dr. Jackson, it was never resolved. I concluded he wasn't killed only
because he appeared in Psychobombs and some other episodes that came later.
And, if we have reasons to doubt episode orders, this even could have been
the end of him.

Welcome again,

Branko Vekic,

Sarajevo, Bosnia

Hi Carly! I'm not up there in the big leagues with this group either,
haven't written any fiction (yet), don't have any rare items not shown on
Marc's mega-site (!!!) but it's been great being on the list for the last
couple of weeks, there's some really friendly folk out there, can't help but
love 'em! Welcome to the list!

ROFL! Well, you know, I fell in love with Marcus Aurelius and he's been
dead for 2000 years, so what can you do? :-)

I don't remember this ep much and have no interest in rewatching it -
SOMEone must have an answer, though, right? <looking to everyone else on

Don't worry about that. We are just one big family here.
Just be yourself and enjoy the conversation. You'll meet
a lot of nice people here too.

Yeah, I was a bit older than you then but I recall enjoying
all those Saturday morning shows too. For me, it was
Gerry Anderson shows like Fireball XL-5 and Supercar
Stingray, Thunderbirds and etc. Then when I saw UFO in
the 70's, I was an automatic fan of the show. Ed was
really cool as Straker too.

Yeahy, I know what you mean, I didn't like the way Collins
just appeared there without Jackson knowing about it .
Unless there was back door I didn't see? But after Jackson
looked up at him, that was it. They didn't show Jackson
being beaten up.
