If UFO were remade today, how would SID sound? Would he sound like a
distinguished British man with a little reverb? Would he sound totally computerized like a voice synthesizer? I wonder if SID would sound slightly musical, like a vocoder. I have some examples of vocoder music at my website, but if I were to implement a SID voice, what would the melody be? Would it be the theme from the TV show or something more incidental? I believe that he should remain as he always was...classic! --- In [hidden email], "Robby Garner" <robby.garner@...> wrote: > > If UFO were remade today, how would SID sound? A mid-atlantic female accent, probably.
"Hello. You are through to Space Intruder Detector. Press "1" for incoming UFOs. Press "2" for SkyDiver enquiries. Press "3" for SHADO HQ. Press "4" for Moonbase. Forall other enquiries, press "5" or hold for an operator." Or maybe English with a thick Indian accent that you can't understand giventhe way that most call centres have gone now... Grant. I can't help but think that he would probably have the fruity tones of Tom
Baker. Given that 25% of TV commercials seem to use his voice and he's even a voice choice for the TomTom satellite navigation system (appropriately enough). Kevin Bulmer |

Less like Noel Coward !
Man, that was probably the only aspect that I prefered in the french version of "UFO", SID's voice sounded much more like a cross between a "cumputer" and a "himan being" ! * * Well... I did also like that in the french version, Straker would often refer to Alec as "The Canadian" ! --- In [hidden email], James Gibbon <jg@...> wrote: > > On Tue, 11 Mar 2008 23:06:29 -0000 > "Robby Garner" <robby.garner@...> wrote: > > > If UFO were remade today, how would SID sound? > > Patrician and condescending, I think. > |
If they where, I wouldn't mind seeing Majel Barrett-Rodenberry get the part
as the voice of SID, she did well enough for four (4) series of Star Trek as the computer voice.
