I'm quite suprised...

jmain44
Amazing how the votes are going on the Favorite UFO episode poll.
I was torn between my two faves -Timelash and The Man Who Came Back..
but some of the episodes that didn't make the grade suprised me. I
WAS very happy to see Confetti Check-AOK NOT get any votes even
though it has the set up of SHADO background plotline. This and that
tearjerker episode Question Of Priorities-boo hoo hoo-was more soap
opera stuff...Mary-what a real pain she was...I sometimes wish it was
her and that jerk of a new husband...Rutland...that got hit by the
car instead of Johnny...geez, I have to stay off the caffine.....

LOL! Well, I can't say I agree with your assesment of those two great
Straker episodes, but your views on the Screecher woman are right on!!
LOL!

I also sometimes get weary of stories that seem to consist largely of
overwrought screaming emotions and no action. In England there is a slang word
"waterworks" for an excess of tear-jerking or weeping in stories.

Also I have little patience with the sort of story that consists largely of
one of these:-
(1) Tinkling teacups and polite conversation.
(2) Ordinary everyday real-world stuff such as is routinely all round me and
in the newspapers. That makes the story too much of a "busman's holiday".

I have to agree with this. CC-AOK has got to be my
least favorite episode. I never could understand why
everyone seemed to like it so much.

Yeah Yuccy that was what I would say too.
I do feel that the eps like CC AOK and Aqop do give insights and depth to
the characters.

Not forgetting the scene when Ed climbs the gate. oh the was he flicks his
fringe back with a toss of his head ah kerplop!

Oh Jim, make me one, too;-)

You know, it is a rather interesting thought that the episode which
relates how SHADO (not this mailing list) got up and running was one of
the more schmaltzier episodes. Hmmm, is that one of the reasons UFO
appeals to me? The people making the show were obviously not afraid to
turn this episode into a soap opera. After watching the likes of Mr
Spock and Dr McCoy (and don't get me wrong, I kneel at their feet, bless
their cotton socks), all 26 episodes of UFO were a total shock to my
system. I loved it. Surely watching UFO released some sort of chemical
in my brain to produce seratonin or something?

Ouch! I liked it ok, I'd rather watch that one over "Ordeal" or even
"Reflections in the Water" for that matter. It made (for me) the series more
real and gave Straker's character more depth as well. I hated that one as a
kid for the lack of UFO's and so forth, but I've been through some things
that causes me to identify with this story.
Sorry, I don't mean to come across crass or anything, everybody's got their
tastes. :-)
A few months back I would have claimed "Timelash" as my fave hands down. Not
so now. I'm not 100% sure, but I will say "Question of Priorities" and
"Mindbender" for now.

CC-AOK (was: RE: I'm quite suprised..)

anthonyappleyard <MCLSSAA2@fs2.mt.umist.ac.uk>
In CC_AOK I also got annoyed with Mary as beong too emotional and suspicious.
Surely she could realize that even within the film trade there are secrets and
people kept busy with things that they can't tell outsiders about?

> Ed, if you were any decent normal man --- (scream nag nag nag) --- then

the secrets of SHADO may well have ended up on the endless list of secrets
that have leaked in the marriage or love bed down the ages. That, and tongues
loosened by drink, are a major cause of security breaches. And as for her
going off into a frenzy of alleging adultery because she saw him with one of
SHADO's female staff in his car!!!

Nothing wrong with that....see UFO all human life is here!

And thank Goddess for that!

After watching the likes of Mr

There relationship was always the most interesting part of trek for me.
Not Porky Kirk and his love life...just what did they see in that guy! Don't
answer that ! That would be too OT.

Well for me UFO took the child and gave the world back the woman. I have
mentioned before the catharsis I went through after realising that Cmdr
Straker was my beloved Capt. Blue!

Yeah Julie go watch the ep again. I know that won;t be too much of a chore
;-) With a long cool drink and just soak up the cool mintyness of the
Strakerness!
you'll feel all the better for it.

She probably should have been given the amesia drug and packed off somewhere
IMHO. Of course it was she was pregnant and problems seem much bigger then.
Ha tell me about it!

She really should have told mother to keep her nose out of her marital
affairs.
