Hi all,
Christian Jenisch e-mailed me an MP3 of the INVASION:UFO main titles, taken off the Italian UFO DVD set 1. I've placed it in my temporary files directory at: http://ufoseries.com/temp/invasionUfoTheme.mp3 One of the few remaining musical mysteries of UFO seems to be where this music came from. I've even asked David Hirsch (one of the people who made INVASION:UFO), and he doesn't remember. Anyone here have any info? Thanks Christian! Marc |
Hi
About tens years back I was invited to a software launch at a 'very big' software company, and to my surprise they used this music during one of the screen presentation. I recognised it immediately. After the event, I managed to speak to one of the people in charge of staging the event, and although he didn't know the name of the piece, he told me that it was acquired from a music and media company specialising in corporate events etc. He also said that they had used it at quite a few launches, and thought it was just a backing piece available to events companies and chose it from hundreds available. I hope this helps... ...Actually, while I'm on the music subject... I once worked for Apple
Computer, inc., and when I was attending the System 7 launch in the late eighties, Apple UK used the 'UFO' theme at one of the presentations... there was a certain irony in that the presentations where the UFO theme was used was the 'multitasking' and 'publish and subscribe' features... Again, I spoke to the Product Manager (Mr Summerfield) ...Hi Andy wherever you are... and it turned out he was a fan of UFO... I was assured that they had 'got permission', but didn't know from whom... I remember hearing it here in the UK many years ago as the theme music of a local tv news programme. Simon |

So, this theme seems to be used * for some (software) launches of some (big) companies * as the theme music of a local tv news programme * for a men's shaving product commercial * as the opening theme for a miniseries on Marco Polo. Wow! That's a lot! :-) Thanks for the infos! Christian |

Thanks Marc for placing the Invasion UFO theme on your site. I just wanted
to say that I believe the same music was used about 15-20 yrs ago for a men's shaving product commercial and I also think it was used as the opening theme for a miniseries on Marco Polo eons ago. Pam |

I believe I heard the soundtrack (Invasion:UFO) in the film Blue Thunder,
during the film, Roy Scheider's girlfriend is watching TV, at the point she gets up to look for Roy Scheider (he is found asleep on the floor of her sons bedroom) the music is heard in the background as part of an advertisment. Can somone else confirm this ? I've checked my DVD and the narrator announced a program about "space from the edge of the Earth" or something. Strangely, this cue appears in the english and french dubbed version only but neither in the german dubbed one nor in the spanish or the italian dubbed version! Christian |

The only thing I've found in the credits are as follow: Electronic Music Producer: Jim Cypherd Synclavier II Performers: Brian Banks; Anthony Marinelli Music Editor: Steve Livingston Of course the original soundtrack of BLUE THUNDER is by Arthur B. Rubinstein. The LP I've got doesn't include the I:UFO tune. Well, I don't know if this is of any help; maybe one should ask the Music Editor Steve Livingston? Christian |
