Well, this was a bit of a surprise (at least, it's surprising that it's available right now):

A nice little precursor to the release of the series in the autumn!

Invasion: UFO - I have fond memories of borrowing this from the local video library in 1983, at the time, it was literally the only way to see the series again!  I'm sure that watching the video version will recreate the experience in all its glory!  Nice box cover, utilising the original artwork and relevant photos.  And I'm sure that Francis Monkman's theme music will never have sounded so good!  

As I say, a tasty little 'starter' before the 'main course' this autumn!  

Here's an ominous quote, seen today on another forum.  Talking about Network's upcoming UFO Blu-ray set:

   "from what I've heard I'm not sure if the set is going to be as definitive as it might be.
    Better not say any more as I don't want to get anyone into trouble !"

That comment may have been a reference to the Network UFO Blu-ray not containing extra features that appeared on some of the previous DVD releases... I don't know...

Never fear...

The new UFO Blu-ray release, when it arrives, will have a plethora of BRAND NEW Special Features...

Yes, those who care about special features presumably already have the past DVDs with those features, so ideally Network would focus on new stuff that has never been released before.  

Which includes, better video/audio quality than previous releases.  :-)

 

Hopefully the new set will be released before Christmas - my guess is November - and so hopefully we'll all be in for some surprises.  Fingers crossed!  

BTW, just ordered the Invasion: UFO Blu-ray, but will TRY to just watch the 'video version' (for reasons of nostalgia!) and will save the HD content until later.  Well, that's what I PLAN to do anyway!  

Network apparently already started shipping INVASION: UFO on Monday, so we should be seeing comments about it soon!

Mine arrived this morning - must have come via Shadair!

Looks good, but have only flicked through it as yet.  Nice to hear Francis's track in DTS 5.1 surround.  From what little I saw of it, the authentic 1980 video version did indeed bring back memories!  Those were the days...

Have just ordered a copy to cheer myself up after the non-appearance of my Chris Bentley book.

Still £10 with free delivery from Network. And even better, I had £10 in Paypal credit so it cost me nothing!

I've never seen it, even though I know it's just an amalgamation of a few episodes edited together to make one big story, so I'm not expecting any new footage.

Does it have any new content, out of interest? And do you rate it higher for picture quality than the Boxset?

It has a 16:9 aspect ratio, which makes it different than the boxset.  Otherwise, I'd imagine that the picture quality is about the same (although it may have less digital noise reduction, which was the big surprise on the boxset)
