To my mind IDENTIFIED acheives its aim rather well.
It introduces most of the characters, the Shado setup, its bases and hardware. The general format for the show is also strongly conveyed.
I think it also has a very good narrative, each sequence naturally progressing on to the next. There are also elements which characterise UFO as being an adult series.
A pity also that Gerry Anderson did,nt direct more episodes as IDENTIFIED has a distinct visual style that
clearly hints at his earlier work in the industry as a film editor. He alsoestablishes his desire to present the human
costs and conflicts of the subject he has chosen to depict.
The show is quite ironic in this sense because there is
a contrast between the glamourous, bondesque world
and the human tragedy featured in so many of the episodes.
This polarity of light and dark seems to stimulate our interests, perhaps without really knowing why.
Anyhow IDENTIFIED clearly highlights this treatment, not only that, it does it with some degree of pathos.
OK ,its a bit of a co-incidence that Peter Carlins sister,s
organs turn up in the first Alien body they recover, but this is classic plotting. It wraps up the story very neatly and we are left with a disturbing epilogue.
I have also ordered a couple of sets of the New models.
Just a question.Does anyone now roughly how big they are
and from what sort of material they are made from.
Also am I correct in assuming we do get 10 randomn models in a box for our 3000 yen (about £16.00).
