If more UFO movies are made, a problem with Mobiles

Anthony Appleyard
I have been working on my / Don Showalter's CGI model of a UFO series
Mobile. That has drawn my attention to a bad design flaw with it. As
it has tank tracks, it is likely meant to go over rough ground. The
measurements here are as Don Showalter's model scaled so his crew
models are man size. But (compare a real army tank or bulldozer), the
Mobile does not seem to have enough ground clearance between the
tracks. The lowest part in this CGI model is two thick lengthwise
rods which are likely part of the track drive. The lowest parts of
these clear the ground by only 4.6 inches. (The track-drive wheels
are 33.8 inch diameter.) If I delete these rods, the lowest part is
the hull underbelly, which is only 8.7 inches above the ground. That
will easily jam on any lump in the ground between the tracks. And the
low-slung cab in front of the tracks is a total no-no: at the bottom
of any reasonably sharp dip in the grount it will hit ground and jam.
UFO's don't always land on or near roads; the Mobile may have to go
across rough country and crash through hedges and field-walls. The
cab and the underbelly should have been set higher to stop these
risks and also to give the driver a better view above obstacles.

Funny you should mention this. If you check some of the back posts, you will see that we have had this kind of discusion with SkyDiver. They look great up on the screen, but fall apart the minute you try and apply any real world standards to them.
A lot of the Bond gadgets are the same way. Hopefully they will correct these types of flaws if another UNCLE movie is made.
Oops....Wrong group there for a minute, I meant to say UFO movie is ever made. Synaptic misfire there for a moment.
