Interceptor Photos

Marc Martin
Administrator
Hi all,

Paolo Malaguti tried to send this to the list, but for some reason it
did not make it...

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi all,
Yes, I confirm Marc's words.

>> As far as I know, the profile shots with the
>> white backgrounds were taken in the 1970s for the Japanese model
>> manufacturers.

This is the same information I have about those photos with the white
background.
Anyway I don't see any difference between the rocket's shape of the old
photos and those taken recently to the Phil Rae's original studio model.
I am 100% sure is the same missile.
The models were used by Japanese companies (Bandai and Imai) in the early
'70 to make blueprints for the plastic kits and to show to mr. Komatsuzaki
(the wonderful artist that released all the main kit boxes of the '70) the
look of the UFO series models.
My opinion is he saw just the photos but no one episode, in fact (very
funny) in his sketch for the Interceptor's kit cover the rocket is fired
attached to the missile's holder! Or (example) the SHADO Mobiles were
piloted by astronauts.

>> And I suppose that the broken pieces are the remains of another model.

The photo of the broken Interceptor shows how Phil got the large one of his
two Interceptors from Dinky factory in the '80. He restored both the models
(small and large versions).
You will can see both the models on our website (in the "STRAKER & FOSTER"
meeting page) that will be back on line in short time (I hope)...we are
working on this!

Moonbase Girl at Dragoncon

High Cotton
Just posted a couple of photos at the FABGear message boards of a
Moonbase Girl from DragonCon in Atlanta, last weekend. The wearer's name
was Mary Alice, and if you're on the email list Mary Alice, please drop
me an email.
Here's the link:

Her costume was really good!
