Hmmm Lets think about this. Enemy ships that get blown apart they know they come from the moon. Do you let them see where you have your only defenses parked or camo them so they cant come along and spoil your day instead of you spoiling theirs? Logic says YEs its for security and survival of one of the only defenses poor old earth has.
