Introductions

J Ramage

Hi to everyone,

I only just subscribed and got my first batch of messages through this
morning. I'm pretty new, not just to the group but to all this 'information
technology' in general, so I'm not really sure how this works yet, but I
thought I'd just send a bit of info on myself, should anyone be interested.

I've been a fan of UFO and particularly ED Bishop for years now, but only
recently got involved with any organised fan activity, and went to my first
convention last year in May. I'm really keen to get more in touch with
other fans out there, hence signing up here.

I actually first saw the series in German on either RTL or Sat 1 when I was
in high school, as we used to tape anything recognisable to help with German
lessons, and I like the series so much that I bought teh videos to see it in
English.

I'm not really a collector, as I never have enough money, but I do write a
lot of fiction, hoping to go professional should any agents actually write
back to me about my other work, but in reality I'm a law student.

As I said, I don't know if this interests anyone, rabbiting on about myself,
but I didn't really know how else to first approach everyone.

I look forward to having something relavent to say in teh future!

Jessica

Welcome Jessica!

One thing Jessica didn't mention is that she is the one who
has been supplying all the frame captures and plot synopses
for last month's updates of the "UFO Cast Before & After"
page. And there will be more updates in the future!

Hi Jessica

Welcome aboard ! I'm a relative newcomer + have found the group both
interesting and fun. There's alot of diverse thought on all sorts of
UFO stuff so I'm sure you'll get a lot out of it and they're
(we're ???) a friendly bunch so feel free to ask about anything you
want to know about.

This was the first list I joined when I first got on line a few years
back. You'll find most list members are very friendly and most helpful -
I pretty much learned all about the internet here, searching for UFO
stuff. :-)

Ooooh, you went to a UFO convention??? Way cool! Not many of those and
I've never been. I've been to Star Trek cons and general scifi cons, but
never a UFO con.

Cool!

Way cool! (Know what you mean about lack of funds - eBay is wonderful,
but UFO stuff can be pricey)

Amelia? Better recruit her for EBF and TWM too! {{8^)

Ya did good, kid. <big toothy Klingon grin - hope that doesn't scare you
away>

Hi, Jessica!

Welcome to the show.
There are a lot of friendly people around. It still amazes me that,
after more than 30 years, fans still "talk" about UFO. You´ll find
new messages in this group daily!

> I actually first saw the series in German on either RTL or Sat 1

I live in Germany and never knew Ed Bishops real voice until last
year when the DVDs were released (I did, however, saw UFO on ZDF
when it was shown the first time - guess I´m a little older than you
are ;-) ).
Cmdr Straker has a very distinctive "German" voice, so at first I
had a problem accepting his own. But after watching two or three
episodes from the DVDs, I liked his original voice much better (as I
always try to watch any English movie in its original version).

The biggest surprise for me last year was, that there were 26
episodes altogether - instead of "only" the 17 that were dubbed and
shown on German TV.
Nine "never-before-seen" episodes - I loved that!

Greetings,
Michael.

Was that the one in Coventry? What do you look like? I was there, and
there weren't a lot of other females around. What did you wear to the ball?

Cool. Me too. I've read one of your stories at the SHADO Library, I think.
It read like an Agatha Christie novel. Was that one yours? Good stuff.
Welcome to the group!
Yours,
Denise

Straker, somehow it's always about you.
