Yes, I'm afraid so. Just announced on BBC News 24. Gerry will be
fondly remembered by a great many people and I'm sure his work will
continue to inspire and captivate audiences of all ages for a long,
long time to come.

Such very, very sad news.

Gerry Anderson has been a huge influence in my life. He made my childhood more bearable, his series took me to amazing and wonderful places. His inspiration, creativity and imagination influenced my career and interests.

Gerry, I and thousands of people will always admire your work, and your memory will last as long as people around the world watch, marvel and wonder at the wonderful work you inspired and created. Your creativity inspired countless people such as myself to dare to dream and make the seemingly impossible a reality.

The nature and manner of his illness was so cruel, but he is free now. My sincerest condolences to all his family... and to all his extended family around the world. So sorry.

Thank you Gerry from the bottom of my heart.

Griff

Thanks, Griff, for perfectly expressing how I feel right now. Gerry Anderson's work added a wonderful dimension of imagination and fun to my life, not only in childhood but in adulthood as well.

Yet in all my life (more than four decades), I've viewed only a small fraction of his work. I'm grateful there's still so much more old stuff I haven't seen yet, even while I'm sad knowing there won't be any more new material. :-(

How very very sad. After hearing of Gerry's illness I had hoped for the best but feared the worst. Thanks Griff, I share your comments to the letter. I had the privilage of meeting Gerry on several occasions and have fond memories of those. RIP Gerry.

I did not  made any comment earlier about the death of Gerry Anderson, simply because I cannot find the right words to express my feelings. Griff's post echoes my thoughts though. All I will say is that Gerry leaves us a wonderful legacy that will endure as long as we enjoy his work and share our thoughts with other fans.

So saddened to hear about this. As the creator of two of my favorite series ( Space:1999 and UFO ), I will miss him.
