Jet Engine recordings used in UFO

Hi All,

Does anyone know or have definitive information about the jet engine recordings used for Sky1, Seagull X-Ray, SHADair transporter, etc. sound effects in UFO.

I am sure I years ago (can't remember where) that John Peveril and Peter Pennell recorded 'live' jet engine recordings of aircraft taxiing, take offs and landings at an RAF base 'somewhere'...

Some of the jet sounds in UFO sound as if they came from older series such as Thunderbirds, but on very close listening some are unique to UFO.

I would be really interested to know:

- Where
- Which aircraft types (I have my own theories)

Also, the engine and 'drive' sounds of the SHADO Mobile are indistinguishable (in my opinion) from a MK5 Centurion Tank, I could be wrong of course, but I had a tank driving bash recently (how tio turn a field into a bomb site in 30 minutes), and the sound of one going past 'struck' me straight away... the sound of course, not the tank... /-)
