I just watched the episode with the commentary from Michael and Alan. It
was great! I must admit that I was astonished when Alan said that they did
the scenes in one take! That is amazing! Especially since this episode has
that really long scene with just Straker and Foster on Moonbase. Not to
mention the powerful armoury scene at the end. In one take??!! Alan also
noted that Mike built up the tension from scene to scene very well,
something that it's not easy to do when the scenes are shot out of sequence.
I really enjoyed the commentary from these two guys (especially the
naughty bits!) and will have to watch it again soon to have another laugh
with them.

One comment: Last year I wrote an article for Helen's Shadofile magazine
called "UFO: What's Your Favorite?" The armoury scene at the end of Kill
Straker! was voted as the number one most memorable scene in the series. It
was neat to hear Alan talk on the commentary about how worried he'd been
that the scene would come off and how pleased he was to see that it still
has power after all this time. It was also mentioned that when they'd
finished shooting the scene, the camera crew applauded (something they never
did except for lunch breaks, according to these guys!) Kill Straker! ranks
in my top three favorite UFO episodes, and Alan hit on the reason when they
were talking about the armoury scene. He said that this episode showed a
lot of the trust and loyalty that kept SHADO's team together, and I agree
that it is the portrayal of those traits that always put this show above the
rest and keeps it there even after 30+ years.
