I listen to UFO episodes quite often when making journeys in the car. I find myself about half an hour from Napton a couple of times a week which adds an interesting dimension to the journey. Am I right in thinking that Ed lived there when UFO was in production?
Helpfully, most of these journeys take 45 mins so an episode fits in very nicely. I find it a really good way to enjoy UFO, especially as I seldom seem to find opportunities to sit down and watch an episode. By focusing on the audio I have developed a new appreciation for Keith Alexander. He has the ideal voice for his technical role in SHADO. He plays it perfectly straight and in so doing makes it completely believable and gives UFO an authenticity it would lack otherwise. Keith may have wished for a more dramatic role, but his skilful characterisation of Lt. Ford makes him a crucial character for me. So three cheers to him from me.
