MOV files etc

Just breezed through the latest SHADO digest, (I kind of enjoy getting
SHADO in digest format btw, keeps all the UFO messages in one neat little
area) and noted the talk about Quicktime etc. I had just upgraded to
Quicktime 6 when my motherboard and power supply blew out. Luckily I was
able to reinstall it on my new/old machine (I had to redo all my
software! : - ( )

I also use ACDSEE for an image viewer/file manager type program. It's
great to use to organize and delete files. Anyway, when my old equipment
went kablooey and i was transferring data from my old drive ACDSEE was one
of the programs that wouldn't come back right. So I went and downloaded
the latest version (Been using ACDSEE for years and years) and the latest
version supports playing .MOV files! In fact the latest version supports
all sorts of movie and audio files. Not the greatest player but maybe
easier for some people to use instead of Quicktime 6.

I think QT6 though is a little better than the windows media player which,
to me never seemed so stable.

Weeks ago, Marc was asking about UFO episodes on USENET and the new
encoding method yenc. The Agent newsreader supports the yenc format. The
only thing I;m not sure of is if there is a version of Agent for
MAC's. Agent is another piece of software that I've used for years (And
like the others decided to upgrade to the full paid versions!)

Just some FYI.

Oh...I do have a dub of Journey to the Far Side of the Sun somewhere around
here. I have the DVD but I haven't played it yet. But if someone is
looking for JTTFSOTS I do have this dub off laserdisk that I'll give you
for postage. First come, first served.

Really?? I've been using ACDSee for years too. What is the latest
version? My version is ... 3.0 ....

Media Player doesn't want to play mov files, darnit! <pout>

I tried both of those movies on my other computer with Quicktime, but
they wouldn't play - neither one of em. Not sure which version of
Quicktime I have on that machine - think I got a new version last year,
is version 6 newer than last year? <sigh>

Okay, well this came in this morning - yesterday morning, actually, as
