"Man from the 25th Century" ('Captain Scarlet' inspired)

Doug
Has anyone heard of this? It was an aborted TV series that Irwin
Allen was planning to spinoff from his popular "Lost In Space"
series. There was a short presentation film made that outlined the
basic premise and characters. It was shot in late 1967 and starred
James Darren (of Allen's "Time Tunnel"). The whole thing was sort of
like a cross between "Captain Scarlet" (man with alien powers) and
UFO (worldwide defense organization).

I even read a script for a 2-hour version of "Man from the 25th
Century" dated in 1970 where there were "Mobile Units" that were
described as armored assault vehicles sent out to a alien craft
landing site (sound familiar?). The "Man from the 25th Century"
concept was rejected, but Allen got the green-light for another TV-
pilot project, "City Beneath the Sea" (aka "One Hour to Doomsday").
