Now, if we can meld the mastery of scale modellers (assembly,
painting, drybrushing, wash and weathering) with the people that
make the 3D models, we're in business. This effort won't be on the
scale of a Star Wars epic, so it'll have to be done "on the
cheap", relatively speaking. One mistake I've often seen is doing
everything in 3D without consulting the true experts. Shados,
lighting, appropriate grittiness, the "lived-in" look are all well
understood by modelmakers such as Bower, but el-cheapo management
tends to throw in a lot of computer geeks to solve situations.
Also, we should not forget to carefully use mo-cap where required,
but not too much. Some things really need an artist's touch as
compared to a computer interpreting ones and zeroes.
I really hope someone else is looking after the story side,
because I'm doing pure tech promotion. If anyone can come up with
a decent banner ad, I'll place it on my main page. Let's complete
this project!
