Meeting Ed.

keith costello
It has taken several attempts for me to be able to add my name to the list
of SHADO members that have expressed their deep sadness that has fallen upon
us all.

I don't think words can ever express how we all feel about the tragic loss
of two people we have watched for up to 35 years.

I am fortunate to have met Ed twice.

After watching UFO since it first screened in the UK I made the pilgrimage
to UFOria 1. Only knowing Ed though the show I expected him to be just like
his screen image.
As I queued waiting for the chance of a lifetime to meet him I tried to
think of something dynamic to say as I may not ever get the chance again.
When I finally stood in front of him words failed me, he held out his hand
and I shock it, he then thanked ME for coming !! It was an honour to to
able to see him let alone to be face to face with him and have his autograph
so I felt I should be the one to express my thanks - which I managed to do
with a stutter.

The second time was at Manchester's FAB cafe in 1999, I managed to aquire
another autograph and a handshake. Watching and listening to Ed speak again
seemed unreal after all those years.

Happy times to remember in these dark days.

My thoughts are with the families of both Ed and Michael.

Kieth, you were lucky to have met him . When I lost my favorite cousin I was devestated. He was 18 and I was 21yrs of age. It took me along time to get over his death because he and I were close as brothers. As time has passed my memories of my cousin have not died. As watchers of UFO we can see and hear Ed and Mike anytime we want. You also have memories of meeting Ed and those will be memories you will always cherish.
