My household was buzzing the night we found out that Michael Billington
has a web site. So, both my eldest son, Duncan, and I wrote to him. And, last night, we both received messages from him. I am still in a state of shock. Here's Duncan's e-mail to Michael: Hello Michael, I am a fan of the TV series UFO (thanks to my dear mum) I am the age of 13 and coming up to 14 in November. 1.Did anything weird or unusual happen when the cameras were not rolling on and off the set of UFO? 2.In Kill Straker when you where slapped nastily by Commander Straker (Ed Bishop) in the firing room, were they real slaps and if they where real did you ever what to thump Straker back? Well, hear from you soon! I've got to get myself ready for bed, let's just hope some does want to kill me in bed like in Kill Straker. (LOL) !!!But where right!!! !Phrase from Paul Foster- UFO! ![hidden email]! XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX And this is Michael's response: Duncan Sutherland Dear Duncan, Thankyou for your message. It is nice to know that people as young as yourself are 'hooked' on this old Sci Fi series. You are the most important of my fans. I hope you discover that there is some message about human behaviour and values in it's 'creaky old stories'? It is not as important in today's entertainment industry to talk about these things-or maybe it's just not fashionable any more? I can't think of anything unusual that happened during the filming. It was all pretty straightforward and we had to work very fast. Ed did make contact in those slaps. However I knew it was going to happen. The rest was acting! Did I ever want to thump Straker? It never occured to me.We were too busy getting on with the next scene and as long as the results were good, we were happy to coninue together. Duncan, you must trust that nobody will try to kill you in bed. These kind of events are common in modern popular culture but are extreemly rare in real life. I hope you never get into the situation when you grow up that you will feel so angry at anybody to want to kill them either. Remember, Foster was overcome by a power he could not control. That won't happen to you. You are a very valuable commodity to your family and your community. Never forget that! All the very best, Michael Billington -- Suzanne Sutherland The Fat Fetuccine Mama |
