I,ve never heard that before.Where did you hear it?
I don,t think any light was ever built into the model.All
scenes where the UFO glows or light ups up is due to a
reflected spot light,or a backlight placed behind the model.Spolights were for the landed UFO,s in Square Triangle,Survival,Computer Affair.While green backlights
were used in Indentified and Square Triangle/Flightpath/CWTL.The same effects can easily be acheived with the model made using the Miniature instructions.
The episodes where a hypnotic pulsing light is seen on top of the dome is either a) an attachment or b) (much more likely) a superimposed light source,filmed seperately.
