Okay, so this may be off-topic to this list and 1999 had come and gone, but UFO creator Gerry Anderson (I gotta put UFO somewhere in the message :-) really was way ahead of the times.

I'm just wondering how long that idea has been around? I wouldn't at
all be surprised if it has been floated since the early 1960's.
