More Fanderson Convention Photos!

Marc Martin
Administrator
Hi all,

Paolo Malaguti has sent me the photos that ISOSHADO took at
the recent Fanderson convention, and I have uploaded a small
subset of them to my "conventions & fan activities" page at:

http://ufoseries.com/conventions

Thanks Paolo!

Note that these photos are not merely a subset of what is
already on the isoshado.org website. There are some new
photos here, and all of them are at a higher resolution.

Also note that all of Lorraine Meyer's photos that were
previously on my convention page are no longer there,
because the ISOSHADO photos are of higher quality. But
thanks again Lorraine for sending me your photos!

Resolution to Use for Photos?

I was thinking a bit more about the difference between
the resolution difference between the convention photos
on the isoshado.org site (typically 640 x 480 pixels)
and on my site (typically 1024 x 768 pixels), and
wondered what people's preferences are? With smaller
photos, these download faster, take up less hard drive
space, and are guaranteed to look good even on small
screens with limited resolution. With larger photos,
these take longer to download, take up more space,
but look better for people who have larger monitors,
or want to use them as background screens or printouts.

Any ideas? When I typically make photo galleries
for non-UFO things, I use photo resolutions of 800x600
pixels. However, for the UFO site, I've been tending
towards 1024x768 pixels.

At some point, I'm going to get around to updating
my UFO photo galleries, so this will become an issue...
although in the past I have occasionally sidestepped
the issue by offering each photo at multiple
resolutions.

Dear Marc:

Please go with the higher resolution. Only 17 inch screens or larger are being sold now and the higher resolution takes advantage of the higher pixel pics.

Marc,
Differing resolutions is fine, if it doesn't make a lot of extra work
for you uploading them. A smaller resolution works for me, even though
I have a large screen. But then, I usually download pics and print
them small, so it won't really affect me whichever way you decide.
Thanks for asking!
Yours,
Denise
Straker, somehow it's always about you.

I always prefer the largest size I can obtain, but I have a broadband
connection so the larger file sizes do not bother me. As always, I
appreciate all your efforts and will gladly accept whatever you decide :).

Thanks for asking,
Martin

Personally speaking - and having HDSL/broadband at the office - the larger,
the better.

As far as ISOSHADO website is concerned, we're currently going through the
archives to put back in place all the events photos and other subpages. The
website is generally updated on a weekly basis.
We prefer to keep the picts 640x480 to facilitate download: in some
cases, for a single event, we had 50-100 picts on line!
