More TF1 Comments...

Hi all,

Another night to check out the TF1 UFO DVDs, and I've got a couple more
things to report:

* Now that I've looked at all the episodes (briefly), I can say
that FOUR of the episodes (not three) are the remastered versions
seen on the A&E and Carlton discs. They are COMPUTER AFFAIR,
CONFETTI CHECK A-OK, SUB-SMASH, and REFLECTIONS IN THE WATER.
However, even though these are from the remastered transfers,
they don't look quite as good as Carlton's DVDs, as there
are lots more MPEG encoding artifacts, and there is less
color saturation.

* My DVD player couldn't access the beginning of THE SQUARE
TRIANGLE. It had trouble accessing the beginning of several
episodes (mostly episode 3 on each disc), but it just couldn't
get to the beginning of this episode. Note that my player
has no trouble getting around on the Carlton discs.

* The sound quality on ORDEAL is absolutely horrible -- like
someone has put a pillow over the speaker!

* While glancing at a scene in THE PSYCHOBOMBS, I noticed that
a few seconds had been cut out! It was where Linda Simmons
asks Paul, "You do believe me, don't you Paul" (repeat with
echo a couple times). The echoes have been cut! I don't
know if this means if other episodes have been cut as well
or not... I looked at the running times, and some seem a little
short, but when I checked the shortest episode, I noticed
that the Carlton version ran this short as well. So I guess
there's just a lot of variation in the running times...SURVIVAL
is the shortest (46:33 on the TF1), and IDENTIFIED is the
longest (49:19), with the most typical times being ~47:30.

* The episode order is modified from the Carlton discs in
that EXPOSED is episode #2, before COMPUTER AFFAIR and
FLIGHT PATH.

In Austrian and German TV they've also shown EXPOSED as the second
episode, normally. COMPUTER AFFAIR was the tenth episode and FLIGHT
PATH wasn't dubbed into German at all. Lucky Frenchmen :-)
