Movie Straker

MahatmaRandy

HI To group:

An interesting question is who could play Ed Straker today, in a contemporary serise or movie? I think that I have the answer. Behold the above photo of rocker Sting. Doesn't he look Ed Bishop like with his hair? I can really see him on SHADO Moonbase.
If this picture doesn't turnm out, then go to the photos section, where i've created an album called "movie straker", and have included this picture. Feel free to include your own submissions.

I can see what you mean, visually. Whether he would have the acting
range needed tto portray Straker - even to a degree close to Ed
Bishop's portrayal - is another matter.

And I still say that Sigourney Weaver in kickass mode (ohhhhh!) would
make a great Col. Lake.

Yes, I see the resemblance, but it falls apart around the eyes.
Sting's eyes are not as large, beautiful, or haunted as Bishop's
were. And it's the eyes that make the part heartwrenching. After
seeing Frodo of the luminous eyes in LOTR over and over (grin), I am
more sure than ever that he could do Straker in a few years.
Straker, somehow it's always about you.

When thinking of a present day Ed Straker, it's not the looks that are
critical (IMHO) as the personality, that undefinable discipline and
mysterious charisma that I think would make just about any decent looking
actor a good Ed Straker.

HI:

These are all excellent points. Still, when you see Sting in that shot, with the hair, there is an uncanny resemblance. If they ever made a big screen UFO, I could really see Sting in the lead role.
