Mr. Thunderbirds

Marc Martin-2
Thanks to another list member, I've now had the opportunity to watch
the documentary "Mr. Thunderbird", which was shown recently in the UK
on Channel 5. I thought this was a GREAT show, and was also
pleasantly surprised at the amount of UFO coverage! Also I was
amazed to see that they were actually mentioning Sylvia!

While we wait for Rob's next clip, I've made a Quicktime movie of
what might have been Rob's next-next clip -- Gerry Anderson, Ed
Bishop, and director David Lane discussing Gerry & Sylvia's breakup:

http://ufo.simplenet.com/movieClips/mrThundBreakup.mov (1.6 MB)

This probably requires QuickTime 4, so if you can't play these,
you'll have to wait for Rob to make an MPEG version...

My ISP has been having problems with the modem pool, so I had to
join another one in order to get online! The good news is that they're
free :) :)
Mr T part 3 is up there now, on the new SHADO:UK DATA STORAGE SITE:
http:website.lineone.net/~darkstar2
It's a higher quality clip than the last two, and should look OK if
played back at full-screen. Consequently, it's rather large (7MB) and
will take about 25 minutes to download with a 56k modem.
For those interested in the tech stuff, it's 384x288, 25fps, MPEG1,
400kbps video, 32kbps audio and 2 mins 13 seconds long, and was made
using the freeware Tsunami mpeg encoder.

Enjoy!

Hey, I just got a 56 flex that doesn't work in my machine, so I'm back to
18.0 with an occasional spike to all of 28.8. FLAME ON, Yuchtar!!

I'm sure he could have done the JK role, but it would have provided a
kind of 'unwanted continuity' with UFO that might have been confusing
to more casual viewers. Kind of like using the John Tracy puppet for
a main character in 'Stingray', if you see what I mean :)

You mean his Edness could have done the role of his Dandyness
Jason King? Maybe that would suit some of the Ladies on this list,
wouldn't it? ;-)

And yes, this would be a kind of 'unwanted continuity' and not
only for the casual viewers. But imagine the serious Ed Straker
becomes the snobby Jason King. What a challenge would this be for Ed
Bishop, huh? Any statements from our (female) Bishop Fans?

I haven't any doubt that Ed is such a good actor. As a matter of
fact I buy or record movies and TV episodes for the reason BECAUSE Ed
is in, even he has a very small role :-) He's one of my favourites
since I saw him in UFO back in 1972. And I like actors like Bishop
who are without a fat ego. I hope I am able to meet him personally
some time (but I'm afraid I won't :-(

But I haven't seen him playing a Dandy type so far. (Well OK, I
haven't seen him in "Saturn 3" :-) Although he was mentioned on the
german movieposter! And because of the dubbing I logically couldn't
recognise his voice. But that's another story.) Do you know a movie
where he was playing a Jason King type, Amelia? And where did he play
a female stripper?

Thanks!

No change, Amelia :-(
My only hope is to get one (or more) video(s) with interviews of Ed
Bishop. But at least I've got "The UFO Documentary" 8-)

Hey! I hope that someone will take a picture of the present persons
from this list and place it in the Files section! That would be
great! :-D

Just curious about the convention mentioned here. Just joined the SHADO group to keep up
with Gerry A. stuff and have a fondness for UFO. I'm from Canada and little info gets here.
