I hate to contradict you, but... I ordered my UFO collectors Edition set from
Amazon.co.uk. However, unfortunately, the package was damaged in the post, so I called up Amazon.co.uk, and they agreed to send me a new set ASAP... (Amazon.co.uk were just brilliant!) Now the complication is this: The original damaged set didn't come with postcards (I didn't even know about the postcards at that stage) I received the replacement set yesterday, together with a set of postcards... so there you go! To be perfectly honest, the postcards are not that great, and are certainly not (in my opinion worth getting too fussed about, unless they are extremely important to your purchase). Fanderson do a complete set (and subsets) of UFO postcards printed to a much much higher standard. In my experience (and I order tons from Amazon) I sure that if you have ordered you set from Amazon.co.uk, and they have been delivered without postcards, I'm sure if you call them, they'll try to oblige. The UFO packaging is designed in such a way that the postcards can fall out very easily. It does state in the Carlton marketing that the postcards should be in Collectors Edition Set. Hi all, Just joined the group. I haven't seen the whole thread but regarding the above and postcards, the only UFO DVDs to include postcards are those sold here in the UK at Woolworths (its an offer exclusive to Woolworths). So if you bought your DVDs from any other source (including the Carlton website) then you won't get the 5(?) free postcards. Simon Your use of Yahoo! Then why there is silver sticker clearly on the box itself advertising the postcards and booklet? False advertising, I say. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Yahoo! On the Daewoo, I get a semi "FBI warning" about no authorized copying and exhbitions. This is followed by the Carleton gold logo--then the main menu with the UFO theme. But still, the quality is *very good* using a cheapo DVD player with an PAL/NTSC converter viewed on a standard American TV set. The sound is still spectacular, the colors are still vivid, and the hue, brightness, contrast, and zoom (percentage of the original 35mm frame shown) are as good or better than anything I've seen from native NTSC VHS and laserdiscs. Sure, there are PAL/NTSC conversion artifacts that distract from time to time, but even with the cheapo conversion they're better than the official American VHS releases from the 1980's, and they are mostly superior to the 1992 Japanese laserdiscs! But yes, when it comes time to purchase a new TV set, perhaps I should seek out a multi-standard... :-) Marc |

Oops .. sorry about that last mail - it was intended to go only to Amelia, but instead of pasting her email addy into the To: field, I clumsily pasted it into the From: field instead. I'm surprised the list let a spoofed From: field past actually, albeit an inadvertent one. Hey ho. James |

I stand corrected then . I was told that it was a special promotion with Woolworths. Having said that, the DVDs are so good that I don't care about the lack of postcards!! Thanks Angelo! Simon |

No problem Griff...thanks for the correction. As I responded to Angelo, I was under the impression the postcards were a special promotion with Woolworths stores. In the ones on sale in Woolworths, they have silver stickers on the front proclaiming the inclusion of postcards. I bought mine from amazon.co.uk and there were no postcards included(or any such sticker on the front). Not that I am in any way bothered. The DVDs and the extras are so good I couldn't care less about the postcards....:-) Interestingly, my package was damaged in the post too. Just the packet the DVDs came in. The DVD digipack was undamaged. Simon |

Hi,
Just got my U.F.O DVD'S today (SUNDAY) from M.V.C and they had the postcards. So it isn't just an offer with Woolworths. I hope they sell well. Does anybody know when the second set is going to be released? I own all the episodes on VHS, from M.V.C, and the quality is excellent. I will be getting a very large T.V. SET etc. soon, Can't wait to see Ed on a bigger screen, at present I've got a 28 inch. I can't wait to hear his magnificent voice, on surround sound. Bliss. Just got to buy a very large Kerplop cushion. Regards Teresa |

I really don't think the prints on VHS were ever that good Teresa(either the ones put out by PolyGram or the more recent ones by Digital Entertainment). I forget the reasons why...something to do with the prints they used. No doubt someone will know! The DVDs are in a whole different league when it comes to quality and presentation. The sound in particular seems brighter and punchier(and less hissy)than anything I have previously come across. The main title theme (still my favourite Barry Gray piece of all the scores he did for Anderson) sounds particularly punchy to me. I think the second digipack set is set for June 10th. Simon |

Speaking of which: Could someone make a MP3 of the title theme off the DVD and deposit it somewhere where I might get my hands on it? Of course, while we're at it, a DivX of the title would be even nicer... :-) -- RU, (48o08'13''N/08o12'51''E) Alto mailto:[hidden email] |

>DVD and deposit it somewhere where I might get my hands on it? There are MP3's of the UFO title theme at: http://ufoseries.com/music Or is there something special about the DVD version in particular that you're interested in? Also, there is a Quicktime movie of the opening title sequence at: http://ufoseries.com/movieClips Or, again, are you specifically looking for what's on the DVD? I suppose that I will someday update my site to reflect what's on the DVD's, but with my schedule it's not going to happen anytime soon... although nothing's stopping anyone else from doing this right now...
