NTSC/PAL DVD player update

Thaks to everyone who sent me information and links on multi-format
DVD players in response to an earlier posting. After a bunch of
follow-up research and trying to find various models in stock, I went
with the Panasonic DVD 726. It does a better job on PAL disks than my
Apex, plus plays .jpg files of images - a nice added feature! So, if
you have been thinking of getting any of the PAL-formatted Anderson
shows, for $80 at Best Buy this is a way to go.

Oh - Gabrielle Drake fans will enjoy the ability to zoom in to a
picture, moving or still frame, at up tp 300% the normal image! Also
helpful to look at labels on consoles, etc.

Panasonic? Did you mean to say Philips?

Thanks for the info -- does this Philips player play PAL Region 2 out of the
box or must we once again find a secret menu??

You need to enter a not-so-secret code, but you only need to do it
once. It plays PAL out of the box but you need the code to set it
to Region 0 (all regions). I can send it to you if you need it.
