Hello!
Just a note to inform you all that I haven't dropped off the face of the earth! *grin* I haven't written any new UFO stories since my first in the Time Travel series, but I have been working on updating my Author's Notes page on my website. For those who don't know, it's where I discuss my thoughts while writing my stories. Stories that have behind-the-scenes reports now include The Bodyguard, Full Circle, Another Place and Time, and Writer's Block. I have a few more to catch up on before getting back to writing my Time travel series. Stay tuned for further announcements! Yours, Denise You can find my Author's Notes page here:http://denisefelt.weebly.com/authors-notes.html

Denise,
You do realise that "Full Circle" and, I think, "Another Place, And Another Time" were both episode titles from Space 1999... ________________________________ From: Neesierie <[hidden email]> To: [hidden email] Sent: Monday, February 20, 2012 8:27 PM Subject: [SHADO] New Author's Notes Hello! Stevan,
Actually I didn't know that. Space:1999 has never been a show I followed much. I saw the original episodes when they first aired, but the entire premise wasn't very plausible so I never kept up with it or looked it up as an adult. I wonder what they're going to do to it for the new series to make it acceptable to today's savvy audiences? Denise Yeah, Full Circle was from season 1 and Another Time.. was from the season that dare not speak its name. S99 was a replacement for the much maligned but expected 2nd series of UFO but instead they went for several seasons of The Protectors and then the go-ahead for S99. Gerry said he set it in the far off future of 1999 as he was sure he wouldn't be around (smoking cigars a lot and possibly a bit overweight): It seemed for him back then a very long way off. As usual the future is never as good as it is in science fiction / fantasy and me and my big brother are still waiting for blasted moon bases and orbiting space stations and colonies on the moon! S99 had a very definite vibe and biblical narative element to it. Koneig always refers to some greater power looking out for the inhabitants of moonbase alpha and there are storylines very suggestive of Adam and Eve, mythological monsters, phantom ghosts that haunt the person before they have died, a man who is immortal and incarcerated in a chamber with pictures detailing the evil he has perpetrated on his own race within a rock... the list goes on. There was some great stories in the first season, though most of the science and sciences / technologies were wrong and todays audiences would laugh / not accept it as they are just far too savy. So yes they will have to come up with an airtight synopsis. P S As a child I was never sure if it was just a lump or segment of the moon that had been blasted away.. Always all my best and Regards Stevan ________________________________ From: Neesierie <[hidden email]> To: [hidden email] Sent: Thursday, February 23, 2012 8:29 PM Subject: [SHADO] Re: New Author's Notes Stevan, Actually I didn't know that. I did like the character of Koenig, although I found Landau's acting a bit too stiff for my taste. I do remember finding some of their plotlines intriguing at the time. Maybe I should have another go at the series just to see what I think of it as an adult. I'm just not sure I could sit through the bad science. That's been what has stopped me in the past. How do you get past it? Yours, Denise

Might take more than a couple of beers. *grin* I'm thinking boilermakers.
I enojyed the show as a kid, and I thought the acting in the second season was much better than the first, especially Landau and Bain. The toughest part for me was getting around the one world a week deal. I might (and that is a very big might) have bought into it if the moon had pssed through a "space warp" as soon as it left Earth orbit, and if all the action came from aliens coming to the moon rather than the moon visiting a new world every week. I poked fun at the show in one of my UFO stories, calling it (not by name) a sci-fi flop that had been produced by Harlington Straker Studios. Lynn has a way of being very direct. *grin* --- In [hidden email], "Deborah Rorabaugh" <momkat@...> wrote: > > I'm sure a couple beers wouldn't hurt. VBG |

Deb, you are SO BAD! *grin* But I might try some popcorn. It makes even lousy TV bearable!
