In Fanderson's "Century 21" convention booklet, there is a new
interview with UFO actor Harry Baird, who played astronaut Mark
Bradley. In the past, it has been reported that Harry was dropped
from the series because the producers weren't happy with his
performance. However, this interview has a completely different
reason for his leaving -- the minor characters on UFO were on a
week-by-week contract, so they had no idea if they'd be working on
UFO (or being paid!) for the next week until the end of the current
week. And if there was no work for them that week, it would be too
late for them to find a job somewhere else. Harry (and many of the
minor actors) didn't like this sort of treatment, and one week he
simply refused to come in for a costume fitting, which angered the
producers, and that was that!
