New M&E Track - THE LONG SLEEP!

Hi all,

I've just uploaded a new UFO music & effects track... for the
episode THE LONG SLEEP! You can listen to it at this page:

http://ufoseries.com/musicEffects

Note that I haven't yet removed the track for IDENTIFIED,
but I am monitoring the bandwidth these files are requiring.
(the IDENTIFIED M&E file used more bandwidth than any other
file on the website this month, and accounted for 15% of
the website's bandwidth).

Also note that I'm now deleting the opening & closing
credit music from these M&E files to reduce the file size.
I also spent some time last week experimenting with lower
bitrates and sampling frequencies to reduce the filesize
further, but in the end I decided that I would keep it
the same as before (64 kbps average bitrate, mono, 44 khz,
LAME MP3 encoder) rather than reduce the quality.

Excellent, txs.

That is a pity though: deleting the credit music only reduces of about
1,5MB the size of the whole file; it would have been great to have it
totally complete, possibly with the '21st Century' intro as well: we
'audio completists' love to have all that's available!!!

Good, even though 64kbps is quite a low bitrate; are the original file
mono or stereo? If stereo, is there a chance to ever have them?

Txs anyway for the great opportunity to complete our collections!

(BTW, I have some .jpgs of italian UFO movie posters; are you
interested?)

Well, the opening & closing credits on the music & effects track are
identical to what you've heard many times on broadcasts and video
releases, so you probably already do "have" it.

UFO M&E tracks are in mono. Therefore, a 64kbps mono file is equivalent
to a 128kbps stereo file. Most likely if you have a complaint about the
sound quality of this MP3, it is due to the original source material, not
the MP3 encoding.

Will they fit in the SHADO "files" section? You could upload them
there right now. Otherwise, it may be a long wait before it gets to my
website... for example, I've had these M&E tracks for 4 years!!

Surely I have them, but then the M&E tracks misses them! :-/

No complaints, I was just wondering if only mono takes were available.

8 of them have just been uploaded.

Yes, they didn't make stereo tracks for TV shows back in 1969...

Thanks -- it's interesting that some of the photos used in these
posters I have never seen anywhere else!

Four years ago, I didn't have enough hard disk space or monthly
traffic allowance to put these files onto my website. But now
I do. Although I'm not sure how many files I will be able to allow
on the website at the same time (I have an 80 GB/month traffic
limit).
