New UFO item in Japan

Hi all,

Here's a new piece of Japanese UFO merchandise:

  http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=250906591808

Looks like you get ONE episode of UFO on DVD (IDENTIFIED), and a
writeup (in Japanese) about Ed Straker.

Hard to justify spending US$60 for that... :-)

Branko

Looks interesting, but the price IS prohibitive. Especially when you think that you should fork out the sum twice a month, if you want the whole collection of 54 volumes...
Thanks again for the info, Marc!

All the best,
Branko

With one episode per disc, it's possible that they used a higher
bitrate and these are higher quality versions of the episodes
that have been released on DVD with 3-4 episodes per disc.

However, these days, I think people are expecting high
definition quality, not DVD quality...

Re: New UFO item in Japan

Griff
Hi,

This is marketed by the same company (DeAgostini) that also markets those, "Build a Fokker Triplane in x number of parts", or "Build the Bismarck", or "Build a brass planetarium in 100 issues"... or "Build a Supermarine Spitfire" in x parts... grr

My nephew was 'suckered' into starting building the Fokker Dr.1 triplane. The first issue was £1.99 in the UK, followed by £4.99 per issue from then on - well he got fed up at issue #36 when the newsagent refused to get in any more copies as all the attached little parts were a nightmare... to make one wing spar involved gluing a whole load of lollipop stick items together to form one object.

Well, I did the uncle thing, did the math and told him he would be out of pocket by about £500 by the time he finished, even if he did manage to receive all the issues and parts intact. Took him to a model store and bought him a scale flying Triplane for half that sum...

All the collateral in the issues is derivative...

I have heard similar stories from people that attempted others in the er.. series.

I would guess that any and all material in this SF Magazine series would be along the same lines... In the UK a few years back, the first episode of UFO "Identified" was included free with a TV listings magazine... so it's all out there.

Hope this 'saves' someone :)

Sorry to be so cynical, just trying to help...
