Yes, that script was real. Reads like a real episode,
too, although a bit on the depressing side (although
UFO had plenty of depressing episodes, so it wasn't
exactly out of line).

I don't know if this is the lost script that was
mentioned at the UFO convention in the 1980's, and
Leo doesn't really know for sure why it wasn't filmed,
although I think his observation that it was too
politically sensitive to be made rings true, especially
with Gerry Anderson & Lew Grade always trying to make
something to "please the American audience".

Leo also left the series after episode#13, but I find
it hard to believe that they'd abandon a script
simply because the person no longer worked there.

Hopefully there will be some good discussions of the
script here. And people might want to adopt
"Spoiler Warnings" if they're going to say anything
that might spoil the script for anyone who hasn't
read it yet.

Seriously good windup, Marc, posting the news on 1 April. :-D I'm on
digest mode so went from a cynical "yeah, right" to... "uh... *is* it
real??" to "WOW!!" in the space of about 60 seconds.

Yes, from the point of view of "not an upbeat episode" this fits
beautifully with the series. I hope it's not a spoiler to say that
for moral ambiguity, it leaves Square Triangle standing at the start
line. IMO think it goes to emphasisng highlights how UFO was ahead of
its time - or certainly in scifi terms. For eg, I don't remember
Space:1999 attempting something like this - but then I don't remember
many S:1999 episodes so may be doing it an injustice. But hey, this
is the UFO list so if I am dealing out injustice to S1999... tough!
:-D
