If any UFO design in the new Film looked like that,then the film is likely to be more of the disaster most expect it to be.
It is my view that Derek Medding's Original design of the UFO Saucer was unique and inspirational.A totally beguiling and wonderful interpretation of all UFO sightings of the 50s,and 60's.He caught the very essence of UFO's as they were reported and experienced at that time.
The model was then superbly lit and photographed by the team at Slough.
As he said "I wanted to create something that deceived the eye,a model that flashed and strobed,that you never quite sure what you were looking at.Like all those out of focus photographs that we used to see all the time"
It is obvious that Derek Meddings acheived what he set out to do,as no model has ever been made that accurately represents his original designs.Even the acclaimed Gerry Anderson professional model maker Martin Bowers did not come anywhere close with his reproduction.
I presume there will be a new design for this particular film,I doubt however that it will have the same mysterious and penetrating impact of the original.
