Here's just a few comments, more to come later.
Marc, I know that this was one of your least favority episodes. while I agree that the ending was a disappointment, the premise of being put into an alien environment was pretty cool. I'd give it a C+ myself. At the Party: The title letters appear over the dancing gal in the halter and miniskirt. This was circa 1969-1970. Wasn't there a prohibition on showing belly buttons on TV back then? I recall an interview with Dawn Wells (Mary Ann of Gilligan's Island fame) where she commented that the waist of her shorts had a slight bevel to cover that area. I wonder how the lady's "jewel" was attached her navel. Clip? Piercing? Adhesive? In any case it was probably not comfortable. In the sauna: <kerplops edited for brevity>: Foster immediately goes to the top where the most heat is. Phew! But then, he was always a manly man.... In the UFO: when Fosters helmet fills with the breathing fluid there are no bubbles as the air is his lungs is replaced by the fluid. Perhaps this is because the fluid is actually only filling a space between the two panes of the faceplate....? Oh well it's a good sfx anyway. In Skydiver: Capt. Waterman appears to get stuck in the chute just as he goes out of frame. (You can see his reflection stop). What pushes him back up after he redocks? Oh yeah, there's NO CHINSTRAPS on those helmets! (anywhere, any episode!) I rode motorcycles for years and they always tell you, your helmet is no good unless the strap is fastened. And those little "cheek squeezers" on the side don't cut it BTW. In the UFO (Again): What happens to the other two aliens in the crash? They get up from their places on either side of Foster just before the crash. Were they *trying* to get killed here? On Moonbase: Why isn't Ellis wearing gloves when taking off the helmet? The alien fluid goes all over those pretty little hands. Foster begins to start coughing before any air actually enters he helmet. Finally (Worst gripe of all) while Foster is struggling to get the alien liquid out of his lungs, WHY DO THEY KEEP TURNING HIM OVER ONTO HIS BACK?!?! I'm not a doctor and even I know better than to do that.... Back in the Sauna: Yeah it's diappointing to find its only a dream, but then we wouldn't get treated to Foster's singing. Too bad he didn't know all of the words. Nevertheless, he can serenade me any time... <KERPLOP> Ooops sorryabout that. Oh well, Back to work!! |
For anyone who doesn't have the videos but would like to refresh their
