I think it all depends on the weekend whether the celebs are in a
good mood, how much they are being paid and how the convention is
treating them. Of course many of these celebs are actors and
actresses and they can put on an act in front of the fans.
Of course some guests will just show up, sign autographs and really
not put any effort into being nice. I have found it all depends on
the conditions. If a guest has hundreds of people waiting in line
for their autograph, the guest may get tired and testy.
I recently approached Martin Landau after a play and got his
autograph. He was visably tired and really was quick with me.
That's fine - a few weeks later I returned to get another autograph
(I'm greedy!!) and he was in much better spirits and talkative.
I really have not run into a guest that has been a total jerk. Some
will cut autograph lines early or show up late for a talk. The ones
that are being paid per autograph at shows can get very pushy as they
want your money.
The fact that Ed Bishop does cons at all means that he has to be
somewhat caring - sure - he gets money, but he must like meeting
people since he does so many.
Hey - send him overseas - we would love to meet him!!
