OT New Thunderbirds Models

derek.eaton
Slightly off topic but someone did mention Thunderbirds models. I got my
hands on the new range of Thunderbirds toys today. A very brief review - I
have not had time to play with them yet ;-) Thunderbirds 1 to 5 + the Mole
and Lady P. Rolls are all plastic not die cast metal as the earlier Matchbox
1990 versions. TB 1 to 3 + the Rolls each come with different sound chips
of phrases *based* on the series. Overall very neat all slightly larger than
the 90's diecast versions. Worth buying even if you are 33 years old.

There are also 3 dolls (Scott, Virgil and Alan) which are Action Man size
with built in voice chips. Each has a number of accesories which seem
relevent to the character. My first impression was that I did not like them
as the heads are so inproportion to the bodies. I actually think they are
growing on me and are going to be a huge hit.

The biggest disappointment is the Tracy Island which is a revamped Matchbox
toy from the early 90s. Jeff Tracy's control room has been added at the back
with pictures of the boys, each with a different control button. This looks
really neat but unfortunately John Tracy has been excommunicated (no
picture) so I think the boys will be sitting by the pool for some long
spells.

I reckon there could be a market for a toy that looks like a film studio but
when you lift the roof off you reveal a hidden secret base......... Would
enough big kids buy it? And a Straker doll (don't go there the girls on this
list will get to excited)

Oops better go one of the kids just opened Virgil Tracy (they not playing
with you know)

Excuse me? <Wearing frown of confusion> I don't understand. Why on earth (or
moonbase) would the girls on this list get excited over a *Straker* doll?
Weird ideas you have about the girls on this list.

Still... how big d'you envisage this Straker doll being??

(Yes, yes, it's ok List Papa, I do know where I am!)

Yours, utterly perplexed...
Carly
;-D

Hmm..
If you put a blond wig on a Dr. Evil doll,
it could pass for a Straker doll.

Re: OT New Thunderbirds Models

Keith Carpenter
He shares the same tailor as Straker (Nehru).

Surely you've heard of Austin Powers!
Dr Evil is a parody of the James Bond nemesis Ernst Blofeld. He most
closely resembles the Donald Pleasence version in You only live twice.
