Given that it was sold about two weeks ago, it's somewhat unlikely i think; the buyer would have decided to keep the news about the models to themselves.
I wonder what the reaction would be of any lawyers for Carlton (being the copyright holder) if they saw this... ;) --- In [hidden email], Yuchtar <yuchtr@...> wrote: > > Who bought the one that was sold? I was thinking more of a frothing mouth or dollar signs appearing before the eyes.

Well, there are some 1200 members of this group and what? Maybe 50 of us
who ever post anything? Some lurker out there may have purchased the one sold. And I would imagine that the package actually says nothing about UFO or Gerry Anderson - they could claim the resemblance is just a coincidence. I'm married to a retired model manufacturer - small companies often do that sort of thing. "And I would imagine that the package actually says nothing about UFO or
Gerry Anderson - they could claim the resemblance is just a coincidence. I'm married to a retired model manufacturer - small companies often do that sort of thing." There's a lot of that going on. Back in the late '70s/early '80s, I purchased inexpensive Japanese motorized model kits of Thunderbirds 3 and 4 that were identified nowhere on the box as being from "Thunderbirds", nor did they have the "Thunderbirds" name on any of the decals. At the time, I had never seen nor had any idea what "Thunderbirds" was. I just thought they looked neat. Wish I still had them now. From what I remember, they were fairly accurate representations of the craft and the parts molded in the proper colors, so there was no painting necessary. I do have a Yot Toys four inch "Space:1999" Eagle Transporter in a package only identified as "Jet Fighter". I don't imagine there's too much the owners of the ITC properties will do about the Asian knock-offs. The copyright laws are difficult to enforce, especially in Hong Kong, and it's probaly not worth the money to pursue them as long as they don't become a huge proliferation in the market. Maybe she had an argument with Straker and took an amnesia pill thinking it was aspirin and forgot her top? Back to lurking.

Actually I think it would have been more something like the film Moon Zero Two
which was being filmed at the same time as UFO which had the heroine played by Catherine Schell stripping down to her undies which were slightly similar to this when to cooling unit went on on the moon mobile she was on and telling the hero if it got hotter more would come off. So guess Moonbase had similar problem and it got just enough hotter for the top to come off. "Is it warm in here or is it just her?"
