I really liked Mark Davies' alternate ending to Ordeal
& I particularly thought the dialogue was very much in
the style of the sort of things characters like
Straker & Jackson might have said in the original
series. Mark definitely caught the 'feel' of the
series' dialogue in his alternate ending.
The only thing I would change would be not showing too
much of the UFO interior. I think it's sometimes more
effective when you don't show things as it gives too
much away & destroys the essential mysteries at the
core of UFO. Plenty of fast editing & bright, flashing
lights would certainly create the effect of being
inside a UFO without showing too much though.
It's a real shame that we, the fans, don't get any
creative input when our favourite sci-fi movies or
series are remade isn't it? I think Mark could
certainly contribute some good ideas to a UFO movie or
series if there was ever to be one, on the strength of
what he came up with for Ordeal's alternate ending.
