Original broadcast dates for UFO in USA

nurseny0728
Hi,

I could have sworn that it was on Sunday nights on CBS.
If anyone could provide me a pointer to the original USA broadcast
dates for UFO I would appreciate it.

Thanks!

That's going to be hard to do. UFO was shown in syndication on its
original run in the USA and so it was sold to local stations not a network
althought he CBS affiliate in New York City picked it up for local broadcasts
not network. So every local station showed it at different times. Here in
my area it aired on WBRC channel 6 on Sunday's at 6PM central time.

UFO's Japanese Appeal

As much as I am a "UFO" fan, I'm also a big fan of
Japanese science fiction films, especially the ones
that I grew up on. While I don't think there is a
relationship between the two, the one common area that
they both share was the fantastic minature work,
especially in the area of mecha.

I have long speculated that one the main reasons that
the Japanese seem to have a great fondess for the
Anderson shows ("Thunderbirds" "UFO" "Space:1999") is
that Anderson's mecha work-- Sky Diver, Thunderbird
space ships, Interceptors, SHADO Mobiles--may be on
par with that of Eiji Tsuburaya who was the SFX
director on nearly all of Toho's Japanese films in the
1950's to the end of the 1960's. He was absolutely
meticulous (sp) about attention to detail on laser
cannons, tanks, Moonlight SY-3, Hawk, Speep 1 & 2 and
various other monster-battling hardware and space
ships.
