I was aware that the original Star Trek was, but apart from that what else? Network are toying with the idea that The Prisoner will get a release, but no date has been set. Correction; I just checked on Amazon and Play to see what TV is being released. It all seems to be newer shows like Sopranos and Prison Break. There are a plethora of documentary shows like Planet Earth, and a few sitcoms and drams (all newish). The kind of cult stuff we are all into is a while off yeat; apart from Star Trek (1960s), and possibly The Prisoner. Many classic and cult shows are getting great DVD releases, like The Saint and over here in the UK you really have to get them online because stores only stock mainstream stuff. I have seen the colour Saint episodes a grand total of once in a shop, and the Network Space 1999 set twice. Ghost Squad is only available online for instance. Cult TV is low on the agenda for companies to release on the fledgling formats. Also, do we really want HD releases of 1.37:1 TV classics cropped to fit the HD 1.77:1 format? When I downloaded these, it took me a couple of weeks to be able register on Demonoid (only open for registrations on Fridays), and there was also only one seeder, so it took several weeks to download. But this is better than UFO, which is not available at all in HDTV on BitTorrent. Marc |

You are correct. However, I believe this will happen at a much
faster pace than with DVD. This because of the switch to HD broadcasting as well as many shows already being mastered in HD. --- In [hidden email], richard curzon <hammeramicus2002@...> wrote: > > > Correction; I just checked on Amazon and Play to see > what TV is being released. Aren't the two competing HD DVD formats being adopted by consumers at a much slower pace than regular DVDs were?

Marc;
I owned several Betamax machines. They were far superior to VHS, in quality. I still have 1 or 2 beta tapes hanging around.
