Hi all,
Here is a price list & information for the UFO photos that Paolo Malaguti is offering for sale: http://digilander.iol.it/quattroamiche1/teresa1/ufo/photocatalogue/cat alogue.htm As for PayPal, I tried to send Paolo some money using PayPal, but it wouldn't let him enter his bank information without giving an error, so at the moment it appears that this won't be an available option. However, as I said before, wiring money from your bank to his worked fine for me in the past... Marc |
Marc-
If he got an error, he should contact Paypal. They will help him get set up. I'm sorry, but I just won't wire money from my bank account to anyone for any reason. Once a bank or company has that information, there really is nothing to keep them from drafting from my account any time they want to but their conscience. I like that my credit card company and Paypal give me recourse should I be on the sour end of a bad deal or fraud. Not saying Paolo would ever do that, I just like to have the security offered by my credit card company and Paypal when dealing with overseas sellers. If I got ripped off by someone in another country, I would have to press charges in whatever country they live in and prosecute them there as well. Personally, I don't have the resources to do that. I hope Paolo pursues setting up the Paypal account more aggressively, as I would guess many people feel the way I do about this type of transaction. Hope he works it out, I see quite a few photos I want to order. Hi all,
Following up on Paolo Malaguti not being able to accept PayPal payments for his UFO photo sale, he contacted PayPal and received a reply that PayPal does not currently support Italian banks which don't have an American branch. He also looked into using BidPay, but they only send out checks in American dollars, which also isn't of much good because of the added high cost of converting such a check into Euros. Also, I'm a bit skeptical about Anthony's concern's about the lack of safety in interbank wire transfers, as I did some Internet searches on the subject and couldn't find any evidence that this is a problem. Unless you know of a specific site that states this, Anthony? Also, having collected UFO items from all around the world through the years, I know that if a fan *really* wants an item, they'll figure out a way to make the deal work -- after all, finding something you want and finding someone willing to sell it to you for a reasonable price is generally the most difficult part in UFO collecting these days... AS I understand it it's only risky where there's a possibility that the funds will be seized due to sanctions being imposed by one of the two countries concerned. But - there is usually a fixed charge, and for a relatively modest amount, this will add significantly to the cost. Cheers James |
