Practical DVD set

Christian J. <memorymetropolis@aon.at>
Hello,

Yesterday I've received the A&E UFO DVD set 2. I couldn't
watch the DVDs so far but I have to say that I find the packaging of
the American set much more appealing than the British one. When I was
using the DVDs of the British set for making the frame captures for
Marc I went nuts sometimes because you have to *flip-flap* open the
complete package to get one single DVD which often keeps falling out
of the folder, sometimes together with the cards! (On the other hand,
the cards were *always* falling out...) Anyway, even the box slips
out of the outer sleeve! And after all this using, the outer and
inner sleeves are full of fingerprints of my own :-(

So I think the A&E box is much more practical for daily use than the
Carlton release. Had to say that :-)

Yes, I don't know who thought that a cardboard slip case that opened
at the top & bottom was a good idea. However, both my Carlton sets
are still sealed as I not only bought them but the eight individual
discs as well. OK, that might sound a little over-the-top, but it was
obvious from the start (and it has been mentioned here before) that
the two cardboard sets would not stand up to much use and abuse. Add
to that, the fact that the stand alone volumes in the usual plastic
cases look very nice indeed, well I just had to have them too.

I hoped that UFO would be published the same way like SPACE: 1999: in
the usual plastic cases in a collectors box, but sadly...

I'd like to buy the stand alone volumes too, but I'm afraid I have to
win in the lottery first ;-)
