Today, at last, I have received Product Enterprise's "Eagle" die cast. After
I realised they aren't answering my E-mails, I ordered it indirectly from "Comet miniatures" and it arrived after a few days. As for model itself, it has to be seen to be believed. On the reverse of the packaging (which is a masterpiece itself), first in a row of "coming soon" models is proud picture of 9" UFO Interceptor, which is supposed to come complete with a 5" in diameter UFO replica. If "Eagle" model is anything to judge from, us, UFO fans with model inclination, will have the reason to celebrate in June. Also, in accompanying "Comet Miniature's" material, it is evident that 12" Skydiver with detachable Sky1 is also moved forward from August to June. Great! I have had my Product Enterprises Eagle for a few weeks now, I concur
with Branko. Taking into account the cost, it a superb piece of engineering and is not what you think of as 'normal' diecast model [forget your Dinky's and Corgi's] it is truely is a model - for more reading I would suggest anybody interested should pop over to British Invasion Forum of Starship Modeller site were quite literally this model has been disected. If PE keep the same standard for the planned UFO vehicle's it will be something to look forward to. Hi Folks; The other day I saw this guy named Englebert Humperdink on David Letterman. And as he interviewed, from both his speech, accent, mannerisms, and look of his face, rubber lips, eyes, hair, & build, I could have sworn it was an aged Darren Nesbit of "The Man Who Came Back". Is it possible these two men are really one and the same, and that's just his stage name? Dave H. |
You're right. There is a striking resemblance. On checking they were born in
almost the same year, both in England (although he says he was born in Madras, India). The trouble is that good ole' Englebert made most of his hits in the sixties/seventies which was also the time when Derren was at the height of his acting career (Where Eagles Dare, Monte Carlo or Bust, The Blue Max etc.) ... Would have been awfully busy, and logistics a nightmare... Maybe one or other is a Doppelganger? ;) ...one that escaped from RITW, and is still out there... Engelbert's real name was Gerry Dorsey (he was somewhat successful under this name as well) but it was when he changed it to Englebert that it really took off. They both had theatrical fathers... could even be brothers. Of course the real Englebert Humperdinck was a classical composer (B1854-D1921) Griff <snip> The other day I saw this guy named Englebert Humperdink on David Letterman. Are Darren Nesbitt and Engleberg Humperdink the same person?
HaHa HaHa hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha! Kerplop!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sorry had to get that out of my system first. No, they are not the same person. Darren Nesbitt is still acting under his own name. He was in one of the Christmas Pantomine shows in this past years(sorry I don't remember which one). Engleberg Humperdink was one of the big Pop stars of the late 60's early 70's. He was sort of a new age Tom Jones and even like Tom Jones had a TV series in the early 70's both I might add produced by ITC the same as UFO. James K. having flashbacks. Engelbert is a very famous performer in the UK, or at least he was a household name in the late '60s and '70s and they definitely aren't the same person. He even kept the Beatles' best ever single from reaching number 1 in the British charts (Penny Lane / Strawberry fields only made it to number 2, failing to knock Engelbert's 'Please Release Me' from the top spot in 1967). If he HAD played a SHADO operative, he would be easily the most famous actor to have appeared in UFO, by some way - at least in the UK. I see what you mean though, now you mention it - there is a strong resemblance. James |

UFO is one of the best sci fi shows but i doubt if Englebert H. would have
appeared without a huge part in the opening credits. Englebert H. has dark dark hair. Mr nesbit has dark red hair. The resemblence is uncanny. Maybe they were seperated at birth. S [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] |
