Purple Wigs

RICH
Hi guys, new member, but fan of UFO from the original screenings, -
more scary than Dr Who I recall !!!!!! - not least because my family
(Southern Branch) lived, and still do, hard by the backlots of the
studios - so some of the "landing zones" were familiar, any way, back
to the subject, It was my understanding that the wigs were for anti
static purposes, and isnt purple such a fetching colour ??? - still
waiting for someone to turn up to the Wobbly Goblin in Stockton,
wearing Moonbase uniform!! I for one won't be disappointed !

looking forward to exploring the site further and hopefully
corresponding on topics occasionally.

Richie....

Although it wasn't stated as such in the series, the purple wigs being anti-static does seem to be the generally accepted reason for the Moonbase women wearing them. Which begs the question; why didn't the men on Moonbase wear them as well?

Maybe it's because they don't have as much hair; ie being shorter. OR...

They looked absolutely riculous in a short bob with accentuated widow's
peak?

Re: Purple Wigs

It's a 'V' shaped peak in the middle of your hairline on your forehead.
Not everyone has one and some have a more pronounced one than others.

In the case of the Moonbase wigs it wasn't really a widow's peak, it was just
the shape of the bangs. Guess they thought it gave them more of a style than
cut straight across like Betty Page.

Worst case scenario...Afro wigs ala Pam Grier. Let's all be thankful
for small favors! Peace, Mark
