Question about Mindbender

moonbasegirl
Hi all,

I'm still working my way through the FAB-UFO archives (up to July
1999 now!)and around this time, BBC 2 were scheduling UFO on
Saturdays, apparently to show the remaining episodes that had not
been screened when the run originally started way back in 1996!

Marc, you said back then that one of the actors requested
"Mindbender" was not screened, due to their being unhappy with their
performance in it. Has it ever come to light who it was and,
secondly, did it end up being shown after all?

I've looked in the "Complete Guide to UFO", which doesn't mention
anything about anyone stopping it; it does say that it took the BBC
three years to show a single run with no repeats, which implies it
did get shown in the end.

The posts were pretty monopolised by the risk of UFO being cancelled,
as it was scheduled during the Wimbledon coverage. Sure enough it
was! Obviously people on the list were pretty upset, but there was
quite a bit of humour over it -

Tomorrow during Wimbledon while the sun shines brightly a large UFO
will crash land on Centre Court leaving a large black trench.
(Revenge is sweet)

An Alien dressed in a red suit will emerge and mutter through green
liquid

New balls!

What an image!! Did make me laugh.

Cheers for now,

Sarah

Hmmm, this really is a memory test... :-)

I'm not sure who that actor was, although I think speculation
was on Stuart Damon (Howard Byrne) and Mike Billington. I
think the episode was shown, and I'm not sure if we ever
verified that any actor really had a problem with that episode
being shown or not.
