Question re Telephones

Sheila Holton-Brown-2
We all know that the trimphone was used in UFO. Plus those odd looking
phones on Straker's desk popped up here and there. But what were the other
phones that were use. They were sort of rectangular and two-tone, beige and
brown. Nearly everyone had one. For example on the console of Moonbase or in
the hotel that Straker calls in from when in pursuit of Jo Fraser.

Does anyone know the model name or number of these phones as I want to try
to buy one.

Thanks

Sheila

Still UFO Crazy crazy crazy crrraaazzzzy!

Hello Sheila,

Actually vintage telephones are something of a minor interest,
and (excuse me while I put my anorak on) .. er, having checked
out the phone you're referring to in The Responsibility Seat, I'm
afraid I don't recognise it. But I'm not an expert by any means.

If I come across one on a website though, I'll certainly let you
know. They were almost certainly a real telephone I should
think, not a prop. It may be that you're unlikely to find a
working example - some of the 'classic' older phones like the
Ericofon (I've got one of these - a rotray dial model, well funky)
can often be found refurbished, with modern electronics and a new
plug fitted, but if I'm right and the phone you're talking about
from UFO isn't that well known, I doubt there'd be a market for a
modern working version.
