RE:Digitally Remastered & Restored

As Carlton have cancelled all further ITC Series releases, I don't think we have to be coy anymore about who actually did the superlative restortion work on UFO[& the other Gerry Andeson series: CAPTAIN SCARLET & THE MYSTERONS, JOE 90 and the forthcoming-from A&E-FIREBALL XL5, SUPERCAR, THE SECRET SERVICE]it was indeed BBC Resources. Compare the exceptional work they did to the work that was done on THUNDERBIRDS, STINGRAY, and SPACE:1999 by a differant authoring house-simply no comparison. Incidentally, they DO have their own website-WWW.RESTORATION-TEAM.CO.UK-but it is concerned ONLY with the equally exceptional work they do on the DOCTOR WHO DVDs.

Uhhh, I know of no evidence to put Fireball XL5 on that list... are
you making an assumption there?

Marc;
I just recieved my Fireball XL5 DVD's yesterday. They are GREAT. The quality
is tremedous and the bonus's are A+.
I started watching them last night. After close to 40 years, I can see
Fireball again.
They are just as good as the UFO DVD's.
Best regards;
Steve Christensen

Hey, that's great news!

My point wasn't that the Fireball XL5 doesn't look good. My point
was that I hadn't seen any information on who did the remastering, so
I didn't think we could simply assume that it was done by the same
group who did UFO.

However, I do believe that the commentary tracks on the Fireball XL5
DVDs were done by the same guy who did the new commentary tracks on
the UFO DVDs.

Speaking of which -- what did everyone think about the new KILL
STRAKER and TIMELASH commentary tracks? Haven't seen much discussion
of that here...

Marc;
Jeff Smart did one on the XL5 DVD's called "The Noble art of XL5", very
interesting.
Another commentary was "Space City Special" same format of Ed's commentary
of Sub-Smash.
So far I haven't been disappointed with the context, contents, or quality.
Yes I agree, there has been little pre-release information on the contents
or the work. I'm just lucky, that they released it, period.

Thanks;
Steve Christensen

I haven't listened to the Kill Straker commentary yet, but I enjoyed the
commentary for Timelash By Sylvia Anderson and Wanda Ventham. The way they
exchanged dialog you would have thought they had been in constant contact
since the end of the series, but they said this was the first time they were
together since the series.

I found this commentary better than that of Gerry's on the first DVD set.

Before Carlton decided to cancel any
further ITC series DVD releases,
they employed BBC Resources to
completely restore FIREBALL XL5,
SUPERCAR, and THE SECRET SERVICE to
the same exceptional standard as
UFO, etc. Then they decided that
with their current financial
difficulties, it would not be
economic to release these shows in
their homeland! Typical of
Carlton-they're not fit to run a
market stall.--- In
