RE:Thunderbirds movie...

Here's a link about the Thunderbird's movie. Interesting that they say the
property is practically unknown in the US. A friend of mine sent me this
link - What does all this say for a UFO movie? In the course of this
article, Gerry Anderson isn't mentioned once - as tho Thunderbirds just
"happened" with nobody taking the bows (or the blame) for its existence! Pam

Well, I'd say that UFO is also practically unknown in the US. For a
movie, it doesn't really matter, because the movie is going to have
to stand on it's own. It's not going to be made for a few thousand
UFO fans....

Frakes says the project for the Thunderbirds movie has been in development
for about 7 yrs - that's a looooong time - and in the meantime, Bill Paxton
has done Titanic, Ghosts of the Abyss and several other films. If it's taken
the production team that much time to put this TBs movie together, can you
imagine how long it will take to get a UFO movie in the theatres (that's IF
they opt to devote as much time to a UFO flick...) Pam

What excatly is "In Development" anyway? Does this cover everything from original ideal to finished film, or just raising the money, writing scripts, ect?
I have heard this term a number of times and I am not quite clear on what it means.

In Development: is interchangeable with "under development" means from the
point the that a project is annonced publicly to the time it starts filming.
Think of this as LIMBO. This is when everything has to get done to make the
movie from getting the money, to getting a workable script( are at least a
script that the producer thinks is workable, the director and actors might think
differently) and getting the cast.

Development Hell: This is where the writers are told to change the script so
often it isn't possible to get anything workable written. This is usually
because the producer has changed his mind about the project or has been
replaced or taken over or sold it off to someone else not so interested in the
original idea.
